You are one of the treasures I discovered this year and I am so grateful for that! You combine humour and depth and so give me the chance to really listen, which otherwise I wouldn't want and wouldn't do. I'd love to come to your church and see Mosaic in action- it's a pity, that will not happen as long as...King Herod...reigns in the USA.

Have a lovely Christmas with your lovely family!

As usual, your posts offer good "food" for me as a pastor. I appreciate your levity, but also your honesty and loyalty to what it is we try to accomplish on a weekly basis. I especially loved the post about what pastors hope for from our flocks. Communicate! Don't assume. Wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and all of us a safe, happy, and healthy new year. Blessings!

What’s not to love about your writing? Theology with a sense of humor. Of course being an Episcopalian I get that, and besides, Jesus had a sense of humor. Love your Impact practice - wish more churches would follow suit. I’m not ADHD, at least not that I know of, but always have multiple books going, one in the living room, one on the nightstand, one on the Kindle app and one to listen to (have you heard of Chirp?). And sometimes I even finish all of them! Wishing you and your lovely family a blessed Christmas and a year full of health, peace and more inspiring writing.

I highly recommend “The Seven Storied Mountain” , by Thomas Merton. I found it a very energizing read. Also, Thank you, your posts are helping kindle a faith I never really had.

YES - ADHD and multiple books is definitely a thing - especially a variety of genres and formats. I usually read 6-8: something sci-fi/fantasy, an Anthony Bourdain book, something punk, and then something each on Anglicanism, liberation theology, modern/emerging church/worship, and contemplative practice.

It's a dopamine hit moving between literary textures and has proven to help us read more overall.

Reverend Yoo, I saw where your favorite animal is the octopus. If you have not yet seen it, I highly recommend the documentary on Netflix, My Octopus Teacher. I stumbled across it quite some time back and thoroughly enjoyed, but then again, I love animals. Thank you for clarifying so much, as I am always learning from your perspective on things. Just a side note, I spent 15 months in Korea compliments of Uncle Sam back in 75-76. I am hoping to return for a visit this next year as I see so much has changed in the last 50 years. I never watch American tv anymore; I only watch Asian tv, and most of that is Korean. I am also taking Korean language classes. I just wish I had done so when I was in Korea and in my 20's!

As always, a great post. But I am feeling a little famous by proxy. One of my questions made it into your post. I'm not sure if I should reveal which one as it could make me look a bit silly or naive.

My blessing for you Rev Yoo. May God bless you, your family and your church abundantly over Christmas and the coming year. May the eyes of your congregation be opened further to the love of Jesus....may each congregants arms be opened wider to the people in the community who need to know they are loved by Jesus....and may each of their hearts beat with the rhythm of Heaven as they love each other in the Spirit. Amen.
